Business Informatics

•    Name of study programme: Business Informatics
•    Field of education/science: Social sciences and humanities

•    Type of studies: Basic applied studies / First degree studies
•    Title of qualification awarded: Bachelor of Business Informatics (applied)
•    Length of studies: three years / six semesters

Study programme objectives:

•    to familiarize students with current issues and problems of business environment and the place and role of business informatics in it
•    to enable the acquisition of professional and practical knowledge and skills in the field of information systems and technologies, as well as in marketing, management, and finance necessary for successful performance in the field of information technology in companies, banks and other institutions
•    to enable students to apply business informatics in a real business environment
•    to develop teamwork skills and experience, as well as communication and cooperation skills
•    to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills through the analysis of specific solutions and proposals of the new ones
•    to provide necessary knowledge and skills as a good basis for pursuing further studies at specialist professional study programmes and other types and levels of study at home and abroad

Upon completion of the studies, the Business Informatics graduate will be able to:

•    understand the basic principles of information and communication technologies
•    manage documents and store them in different versions
•    analyze and present data
•    use the Internet for business purposes in accordance with legal regulations
•    perform tasks in the field of e-commerce, e-banking and internet marketing
•    administer and install operating systems in local area networks and design simple networks
•    identify entities and relationships, and design business information systems
•    design and implement databases
•    implement the basic forms of data protection
•    use modern technology to create web presentations and publish content on the web
•    understand, create, modify and test applications in a selected programming language and operating environment
•    work in a team and perform tasks in a multicultural and global context
